In September 2025, India added above 6,400 new 5G towers, crossing over more than 500,000, as Jio and Airtel accelerate 5G rollout to boost network growth and digital connectivity.

The 5G network boost is growing rapidly in India. As per the latest update, over 6400 sites means the base stations (BTS) were added in one month, September. Now, the base stations are actually designed to spread the 5G data properly in a range of areas. It could be big or it may be small too. The base stations are perfect and good to add on towers as well as in street-level poles. It actually works as a coverage transmitter in some areas. Which we can use wirelessly with our mobile as well as with wired connections. With this much rapid growth with 5G sites, it has now crossed over 504,000 nationwide. It clearly indicates India is crossing the milestone and creating a huge impact with 5G sites in the Digital infrastructure journey.
As we mentioned in our earlier posts, two telecom giants are working together on the same goal to make India 5G-ready as soon as possible. This is what is happening right now. Reliance Jio and Bharti Airtel are seen aggressively rolling out new strategies to expand as fast as they can now. According to the report, it is now normal for them to expand at least 4000-6000 new sites every month. We have been working on this project since the start of 2025. And now it is time for them to spread out to the nation with their 5G sites. With the increasing demand for high-speed mobile data connectivity, it is now required to expand soon. In this content-centric and gaming era, high-speed and low-latency internet is really needed in India. Network expansions and base stations are seen across rural, urban and semi-urban regions of India.

The Government of India has taken a huge initiative for this fast rollout. As the Government is pushing the telecom sectors to bring the nation 5G-ready faster, with a vision under National Broadband Mission 2.0 Indian Government is directly supporting and promoting digital inclusion and high-speed internet access expansion. People are adopting really fast with the Fixed Wireless Access (FWA). As we see, some users are interested and want to have AirFiber models from operators. Also, the plans are budget-friendly too. That’s why people are interested in high-speed internet. With the increasing complaints about the network speeds, the operators started to set up the base stations in every corner of India. As well as with the increasing demand for smart city technologies, IoT solutions 5G network expansion are essential. These things are solely dependent on the user’s low-latency network and a high-capacity 5G network.
Now, some sectors will really benefit from the expansion. As per the industry experts, the digital growth is needed for some popular and most needed tasks like remote healthcare, cloud gaming, AI-driven industrial automation and AR/VR applications. Some sectors, like healthcare and industrial automation is require the 5G signal strength to get better responses and need to transfer data really fast. As both of them involve risks to someone’s life. That’s why both are in top priority. Cloud gaming is so popular nowadays that it needs to connect to the cloud with a good, fast and stable internet speed, as well as low latency. This 5G expansion strengthens the upcoming 6G roadmap. The vendors of infrastructure management and telcos are heavily working on the features and sites. The main focus is to boost the work with energy-efficient deployment and AI-powered network optimisation.

The coverage is improving every month, with thousands of new 5G sites being added monthly in India. With the long-term vision and resilience of the telecom sector, 5G sites are added every month, even if it has a high infrastructure cost and spectrum management challenges. The maintenance is also a great challenge for some areas. It will also be impactful. Base Stations are added with proper planning, with the idea of locations. The location is a bit challenging to select and place the base stations. But still, both Reliance Jio and Bharti Airtel are improving their limits with their latest technology and AI-driven solutions to roll out the 5G sites as soon as they can. With all this, some keywords are already dominating the internet, like “5G site count 2025,” “5G rollout India,” “telecom infrastructure growth,” and “5G tower expansion.” This clearly shows that people in India need an internet speed boost, and we are eager to get fast, high-speed wireless data on our mobiles.
